 The Future
of Employment
The future of employment in the world in which we live in is one of uncertainty.
The marketplace is changing at a dramatic pace, and businesses are having
to make important employment decisions which will seriously affect the financial
well-being of not only the companies themselves, but also those individuals
employed by those companies.
More and more companies are downsizing as jobs are being eliminated or combined
to form positions with more responsibility and higher expectations. This
can lead to a great deal of insecurity for many people.
Gone are the days of loyalty between company and employee. Now and in the
future your employment will be based strictly on your performance (and maybe
just a little office politics). No longer can a person acquire a job right
out of high school or college and expect to work for the same company for
40 years. In fact, many projections tell us that most people entering the
workplace in the nineties and beyond will end up having at least 5 to 7
completely unrelated occupations in their lifetime. That is a scary thought.

and tomorrow's workforce. Take advantage of JobSecure today!

The
Self-Employment Option
In recent years, one way that many individuals
have attempted to avoid the uneasiness of employment in today's workforce
has been through self-employment. Many have quit their 60 hour per week jobs
and started their own businesses only to find that they are now working 80
hours per week.
However, self-employment does offer benefits not enjoyed by those who work
for others. One of the biggest benefits, of course, is that there is nobody
telling you how to do your job (except for a few customers). You are your
own boss, and when you believe that something needs to be changed, you can
change it.
Nevertheless, traditional means of self-employment have been somewhat ineffective
with the same commute, higher overhead, hiring and firing responsibilities,
inventory and so on. This has lead to the failure of many small business
entrepreneurs.
Over the last decade or so the response to this has been to start
a business from home. With low overhead, no commute, tax breaks and other
advantages, it has proven to be a much more effective means of
self-employment. For more information on this subject, you might want
to take a look at this article. It gives a
very detailed explanation of the benefits of home business vs. traditional
self-employment. Our
"Self-Employment
HOT Tips" Forum would also be a good resource for self-employment
information.
